Our client had a door situated in a passageway and the sun streamed in nearly all day. It was quite an issue as not only was it extremely hot, but it was going to cause problems with the timber floor.
Our brief was: Maintain the light, block the damaging sun and heat.
There were 2 x things we needed to address separately, that still needed to function together.
To filter the light from the high window above the door, but stop the searing heat, we installed a motorised light filtering roller blind that was hard-wired to the house. Our client was able to have the blind up or down with the touch of a button. Accompanied with the blockout lined sheer on the door enabled our client to block the sun entirely or open it when she wanted some sunlight streaming in. Tricky problems solved.
